Shaded RV Sites
Some sites sit in natural shade under mature trees: cooler afternoons and a quieter spot outside.
Mature trees and rolling hills around the park
Some sites at Birthplace of Texas RV Park are naturally shaded, offering relief from the sun and a cooler, more relaxing outdoor space. The park sits in rolling, hilly countryside, surrounded by mature trees that have witnessed nearly two centuries of Texas history, going back to the days when Washington-on-the-Brazos was where Texas declared independence in 1836.
That is shade the land grew on its own, not an awning bolted on later. The word to hold onto is "some": not every site is under a canopy, and which spots sit in shade is something to ask about when you call (713) 306-4847 or send a reservation request.

What shade does for an RV in a Texas summer
Anyone who has parked a rig in a Texas August knows the roof and the sunny side take the heat all day. A site under trees keeps direct sun off the roof and off the sidewall with the big slide, so the interior stays cooler and the air conditioner cycles less. With a 30 or 50 amp hookup at the pedestal, less air conditioner work also means you are less likely to trip a breaker when you run the microwave and the coffee maker at the same time.
Shade is good for the outside of the rig as well. Awnings, tires, and the rubber roof all age more slowly out of constant sunshine, and a cooler patio means the chairs and the grill are in the shade by afternoon instead of the other way around. Pets lying on the ground are easier to keep comfortable too, and the park is leashed pet-friendly, so you can bring the dog along and keep it on a lead under the trees.
A few cautions go with trees. Look up when you park for low or dead limbs, keep your satellite dish or antenna in mind if you use one, and expect some leaf and seed fall. Those are the small prices of a shaded spot.
Asking for a shaded site
The best way to get a shaded site is to say so when you reserve. The reservation form takes your name, phone, email, length of stay, pets, RV type, and party size, and it has a message field where you can write that you would like shade if one is open. Availability for a shaded site is not guaranteed, because some sites are shaded and some are not, and it depends on who is already parked when you arrive.
If you would rather talk it through, call (713) 306-4847. The park is at 10045 Hwy. 105 in Brenham, open 24 hours, and rates are quoted by phone or reservation request. Whichever site you land on, every one is pull-through with water, sewer, and 30 and 50 amp electrical hookups, so you can settle in and enjoy the hills.
Guests who stay here tend to mention how quiet and beautiful it is. One wrote that if you like quiet and beautiful scenery, this is the place to stay. Add a little shade over your chairs on a warm evening and that description gets easy to believe.
